August 2009

We love camping and have made it a tradition to camp with our friends, the Mills family. Todd and Donna lived just around the corner from us when we lived in Rose Park and their son Tanner became best friends with Emma. Remarkably, they are still the best of friends whenever we get together. This trip ended up shorter than we like, but still quite enjoyable. Friday we camped in a canyon near us in Logan. Saturday we went swimming at Logan's Aquatic Center. We then had a late lunch and said our farewells 'til the next time.
We also went with our next door neighbors (and close friends) Lori and Ryker Edwards to feed the ducks at First Dam. Ryker was born just 6 weeks before Josiah and is named Ryker Gaven Edwards. I'd like to claim responsibility for it, but they had someone else they were naming him after--and they hadn't realized that Gavin's middle name is Edward!
You can tell Josiah is tired when he chooses sleep over food! :)
The end of August ended up quite busy. Emma started her first day of 1st grade with Mrs. Cook on the 19th.
Emma had to miss the second day of school so that we could all go to a very exciting and important event. Barry got married to Kristen Jean Ostlund!
My brother Nate and his family came into town for the event. So all of the grandkids were able to get together--what darling rascals!
What a cute family!
While Nate and Alli were here, we had some got to spend some time together. Everyone (except the newlyweds) came up to Logan to see our house and it's many changes. We drove up Logan Canyon to go on a hike around Tony Grove lake. It was gorgeous and such beautiful weather.
I like this picture, Jason and I got to walk around the lake totting Josiah along while the rest of the kids stayed with Nana and went back the way we came.
After the hike, Jason and I took the older kids to Gavin's back-to-school BBQ where they got to horseback ride while aunt Emily watched the babies and the other adults went to the temple. It was a great visit!
Emma the artist! Lightning McQueen and The King
Gavin's first day back at school again. He LOVES it there!
Though Josiah has been slow with standing and trying to walk--he's had some balance issues, though no hearing problems--he hasn't let that slow him down. He's not even one yet, and he has made it all the way to the top of the stairs, so quick that Mom couldn't catch him! And boy, was he proud of himself! We had to buy a new stair gate to keep him from really hurting himself.
Girls night out! Once a year, Jason proves just what an amazing husband he is by letting me have a night out with the ladies. This was the 4th year and we went up to the cabin. So much fun--though so little sleep!
